The 2011 Kia Optima is sure to be a hit with its ultra sleek styling.
Bob Rohrman Kia in Lafayette asked us to do a leather
but not just any leather, a two tone interior with a contrasting stitch!
First we remove the interior from the vehicle.
Les looks like he is focusing here but really he is thinking about a double cheeseburger and that hand he folded last night.
Then we strip the seats and the door panel inserts.
Here one door panel is finished with ebony leather to replace the stock tan cloth. That looks way better than stock.
Once the seat is stripped we install the carbon fiber seat heaters.
New leather needs to be steamed to remove the wrinkles from shipping.
Here you can see Greg wrapping the leather.
and anchoring it down with our pneumatic hog ring gun.
Hopefully he doesn't get the goat beard caught in one of those rings.
The driver seat is now wrapped and ready to be
put back in the car.
The new Optima has no symetrical areas to
mount the seat heater switches.
so we chose to install them offset to the right.
Here is the back seat bottom ready to go into the car.
Next the Headrests need to be covered.
When Greg isn't showing us propper headrest wrapping techniques he likes to play ball
with his two young boys in the back yard. Way to go Greg!
Final assembly is under way. Here Brandon installs the back seat.
Here is the final product !
